The Need of Communication Skill

The English word 'communication' is derived from the Latin word, 'Communicare' which means to impart or participate or to transmit. The word 'Communicare' is derived from the root 'Communis' which means to make common or to share.

Communication is a bridge that connects people across the globe. In a simple way, thoughts, views and ideas are shared through words. The 7 Cs in communication stand for "clear, concise, concrete, correct, coherent, complete and courteous." These may atleast be used as a checklist in written and spoken messages.

Lack of communication skill often appears as a barrier that may not allow someone to step up the growth ladder. A group discussion, a client meeting, a project discussion, a team meeting, etc. await for some words, basically a feedback. Good communication and good language satisfy the skilfulness of the language. No skill is achieved without a little effort.

Thoughts in words (i.e. communication) may sometimes go ungrammatical or unpresentable accompanied by fear. Knowledge helps someone to get rid of those fear and hesitation. Learn simple grammar (the base or foundation) to know the correct usage, read a novel to improve vocabulary as well as the speed of communication (try to read faster) and seek to apply wherever possible.
